Pool Problem Fixes
Diagnose what's wrong and get the specific fix. Every page includes a step-by-step treatment protocol with exact doses.
Green Pool
Possible algae: test FC, CYA and valid pH. Use the CYA-aware treatment, restore its target from fresh readings, maintain filtration and verify all completion criteria.
Cloudy Pool Water
Three causes: low FC, pH imbalance, or filtration failure. Diagnose before treating.
Algae Bloom (Mustard / Black)
Identify persistent mustard or black algae before increasing treatment strength. Use the ordinary CYA-aware algae plan and surface-safe cleaning; persistent growth needs professional assessment, not an automatic FC multiplier.
High CYA (stabiliser build-up)
As stabiliser builds up, the free chlorine you must hold to keep the water sanitary climbs with it. There is no cliff at any particular number and nothing stops working overnight; it just gets progressively harder to keep up. Diluting is one option among several, and lowering pool water carries structural risks worth understanding first.
Low / Zero Chlorine
Emergency: FC at 0 means the pool is unsafe. Get the dose to bring chlorine back to a safe range, then retest before swimming.
Pool Opening Problems
Green water at opening, CYA too high, pH crashed over winter. Diagnosis and fix.
Pool Closing Checklist
Chemistry, line blow-out, equipment storage, and cover installation for winter.
